2 killed, 1 injured after car crashes into bus stop

ROSWELL, GA (CBS46) – Two people were killed and another person was injured when police say a car swerved and crashed into a bus stop in Roswell on Thursday.

Curtis Freeman, 55, was killed in the crash Thursday. Freeman was a long-time employee of Roswell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Another victim, who police have only identified as a woman, died Friday.

The crash happened on Alpharetta Highway near Frazier Street. Police said the woman, who witnesses said appeared to be in her 60s, was headed south on Alpharetta when she swerved to avoid rear-ending a bus and instead plowed into the crowd.

A witness was working nearby when he heard the crash.

“The people that got hit couldn’t do anything about it. They were just waiting for the bus,” said Drew Nolan. “I’ve never seen anything like what I witnessed there and I hope I never do again.”

The driver accused of causing the fatal crash could face charges.

Police are trying to determine if the woman was distracted by her cell phone when the accident occurred.
