25th Anniversary of Tennessee’s Top 10 Most Wanted

NASHVILLE (WDEF) – Saturday will mark the 25th anniversary of the TBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list.

Since it launched in 1993, more than 400 suspects have been captured after making the Top 10 list.

The most recent have been Waffle House shooting suspect Travis Reinking and Alain Benitez, who was just captured yesterday after a chase in Wilson County.

The very first capture was Terry Lee Charlton.

He was wanted for multiple aggravated burglary charges.

It took 18 months, but Special Agent Mark Gwyn eventually got his man.

Gwyn would go on to become a TBI Director.

TBI Director“The Top 10 program has been an invaluable partnership between the TBI and the public. When we share information about dangerous fugitives, the public pays attention, stays vigilant, and offers tips, which can make the difference in getting these individuals in custody,” said TBI Director Mark Gwyn. “We look forward to that continued partnership well into the future.”

But one of those original Top Ten Most Wanted is still at large.

TBI original Top 10 Most Wanted ListRobert Houston Sanders escaped from the Tennessee State Prison in 1990 and hasn’t been seen since.
