5 young teens charged with killing a singer in Nashville
NASHVILLE (WDEF) – Nashville police have arrested five juveniles for the shooting of an aspiring singer.
The body of a former Belmont University student was found by his housemate at his home Thursday afternoon.
The victim is 24 year old Kyle Yorlets.
Police believe the five juveniles were in a stolen pickup in the alley behind his house, when they ran into him.
They think the teens took his wallet and demanded the keys to his car, but he refused.
The suspects range in age from 12-16, both boys and girls.
They identified the three oldest, 14 year old Roniyah McKnight, 15 year old Diamond Lewis, and 16 year old Decorrius Wright.
Police arrested them Friday morning with two loaded, stolen weapons.
And they say they were in another stolen vehicle after abandoning the pickup that was stolen in Kentucky.
Yorlets was the lead singer and a guitarist with the Pop/Rock group Carverton.
The band posted this statement on their Facebook page:
“On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend, and bandmate Kyle Yorlets. We are in a state of shock and are having to grasp the reality that is now in front of us. We are heartbroken. Our condolences for his family and loved ones and all the lives that he touched. We will never forget Kyle, and though he is gone too soon his legacy is here to stay.”
