54th annual MLK march and parade cancelled due to weather
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations will be cancelled in Chattanooga on Monday due to approaching winter weather.
The Unity Group of Chattanooga issued the following statement regarding the event:
“Due to the anticipation of inclement weather, out of an abundance of caution we will forgo the 54th Annual March/Parade and MLK Day Main Program as of this time, which was scheduled for Monday January 15th 2024.
While this is unfortunate, we would like to thank all the organizers, volunteers, sponsors and City of Chattanooga for their commitment and dedication this year.
Dr. King’s holiday is an occasion when we all pause to reflect upon many of the ideals and principles that make us a great nation and community, namely self-worth, dignity and respect for all people. It is through exemplifying love and charity for all people that we build up and plant atop solid ground the, “Beloved Community. “
Yours in Abundance,
Unity Group of Chattanooga
