6 pets rescued from fire in Hamilton County
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Dallas Bay Volunteer firefighters rescued 6 pets from a burning house.
The fire broke out in the ceiling around 12:15 this afternoon at a home on Dallas Lake Road.
When crews arrived, the homeowner told them her 5 dogs and 1 cat were still in the home.
Firefighters were able to save the animals.
But 2 firefighters were bitten on the hands by 2 of the dogs during the rescue operation.
Hamilton County EMS treated them on the scene.
The 2 dogs will be quarantined for a few days, which is standard procedure.
The homeowner is staying with family.
The house has smoke and fire damage totalling 20-thousand dollars.
There’s no official word yet on the cause.
