6-year-old boy shot during Gwinnett Co. party
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) – A 6-year-old boy was shot at a party in Gwinnett County Saturday night.
Around 6:18 p.m., Gwinnett County police officers responded to call about a person shot on Cannonball Court in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
The victim, a 6-year-old boy, had a small wound on his chest.
He had reportedly been shot with a BB or pellet gun by an unknown person. The child was able to walk and speak normally, and was taken to a local hospital by his mother.
However, the hospital determined the child had actually been shot by a small caliber bullet, not a BB or pellet.
He was then taken by helicopter to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
Detectives determined the shooting took place at a party in the neighborhood where the victim lives.
No suspects are in custody and no charges have been filed.
