60 individuals arrested in connection to illegal cockfighting operation
HUNTSVILLE, Al. (WDEF) — Authorities arrested 60 individuals after shutting down an illegal cockfighting ring in Blount County, Alabama.
The Gulf of America Homeland Security Task Force led the raid on June 14, 2025.
They worked with the USDA Office of Inspector General and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
According to ICE, the operation targeted animal fighting, illegal gambling, and undocumented individuals.
Results of the raid included:
- 60 people arrested (55 undocumented immigrants, 5 U.S. citizens)
- Over $100,000 in cash seized
- 2 firearms recovered
- 5 pending federal indictments
- 4 charged with illegal reentry

The case will be prosecuted in the Northern District of Alabama.
