$60,000 worth of meth seized in McMinn County
A joint law enforcement operation in McMinn County has resulted in an arrest and a seizure of $60,0000 in suspected methamphetamine.
According to McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy and Athens Police Chief Freddie Schultz, a weeks-long narcotics investigation by the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force, the Athens Police Department, the McMinn Co Sheriff’s Office, TN Department of Homeland Security, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the TBI identified a pending delivery of a significant amount of methamphetamine at two locations in Athens on April 20, 2026.
The suspected methamphetamine was determined to weigh over 13 pounds and had a potential street value of $60,000.
“Our joint teams surveyed the sites throughout the day, and once deliveries were made, at least one suspect was arrested, and the packages were seized. The investigators believe the drugs originated in California and were shipped here as part of a criminal operation.”
– Sheriff Guy said.
This is an ongoing investigation.
