6th grader charged after loaded handgun found at Chattanooga Preparatory School

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A 6th grader has been charged after a loaded handgun was found in their backpack at Chattanooga Preparatory School on April 13, 2026.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says the juvenile suspect was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with the following:
- Carrying a Weapon on School Property
