74 year old convicted of largest meth seizure agents have ever seen

LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) –  A jury has convicted a 74 year old man with trafficking meth in northwest Georgia.

Investigators with the Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force testified that this was the most meth they had ever seized at one time.

It started in in April of 2021, when Thomas Garrison was stopped in Walker County.

A drug dog hit on his pickup truck.

Officers say they found 2 ounces of meth in the driver’s door.

But then they discovered 4.4 pounds of it in the back seat.

Agents say Garrison lead them to a safe at his home in Whitfield County with $21,000 in profits from meth sales.

Since he had 4 previous convictions in Whitfield County, the judge gave Garrison 30 years in prison.

He will be eligible for parole when he is 99.
