8-year-old girl drives herself 30 minutes to local Ohio Target

BEDFORD, Oh. (WDEF) —  An 8-year-old girl from Bedford, Ohio drove herself nearly 30 minutes to a local Target.

Bedford Police were dispatched to a residence on Greencroft Road around 9 a.m. for reports of a missing child and vehicle.

Neighbors were able to provide police with Ring doorbell footage of the girl driving off by herself in a SUV around the time the family made the reports.

A report had come into law enforcement of a child driving an SUV that matched the description of the missing vehicle.

After following the vehicle via license plate readers, officers were able to locate the vehicle at a Target in Bainbridge, Ohio.

Police were able to locate the 8-year-old inside the store.

She confessed to officers that she had hit a mailbox while traveling to the retail store.

Her family later came to the store to pick her up.
