Testimony on kidnapping and murder in Jackson County

SCOTTSBORO, Alabama (WDEF) – A court hearing reveals an explanation for why a murder may have happened in southern Jackson County.

The body of David Rivamonte was found buried near a home in Woodvine.

He had been missing for two weeks from the Huntsville area.

A week later, Brandon Berry, who was already in jail on another case, was charged with the killing.

On Wednesday, Berry was in court.

An investigator testified that witnesses claimed that the two men came together for the first time in a group of other people.

They say that Rivamonte accused Berry of being a child rapist.

The witnesses say Berry borrowed a gun and a pickup and drove off with Rivamonte.

He came back along.

A judge found probable cause in the case and bound it over to a grand jury.
