Historical Society trying to recover medallion stolen from Nancy Ward Grave

BENTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – The McMinn County Historical Society needs your help finding the people responsible for vandalizing an historic gravesite.

A medallion has been stolen from a historical monument at the Nancy Ward gravesite in Benton.

Nancy Ward was an important figure to the Cherokee people but is also considered an “early” pioneer for women in American politics.
