Mocs Prepare to Battle Pass Happy Indiana State in the Playoffs

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Mocs will play a rare December game this Saturday, and defensive lineman Josh Freeman says he can dig it.

"It’s exciting. Been ready for our first playoff game since I’ve been here. It’ll be my first playoff game since my senior year in high school, so it’s pretty fun. It’s exciting."
Chattanooga will face pass happy Indiana State. Quarterback Mike Perish threw the ball 57 times last week.
Said head coach Russ Huesman,"If they get to 57 throwing the ball, we’re probably not playing great defense. If they throw it 57 times, and we don’t get an interception, we’re in trouble too. We’re going to have to get our hands on the ball. We’re going to have to sack him some."
Said Freeman,"I’m thinking to myself it’s going to be a fun day. A really fun day. We love to rush the passer. We’re going to have potentially 50 plus chances to rush the quarterback. That’s great."
The Sycamores also have their own version of Davis Tull in defensive end Conner Underwood.
Said Huesman,"They’ve got a defensive end that’s second in their league in sacks with 13.5. I believe he has got 24 tackles for a loss. Here’s the thing about them. They lead the league in turnover margin at plus twelve, which is huge. I think we’re sitting at plus four."
Chattanooga hopes their playoff match-up draws a big crowd.
Said Huesman,"If we get 12 to 15,000 out there, and I don’t want to under-shoot or underestimate, but if we get 12 to 15,000, we’re doing as good as anybody in the country."
Said receiver Tommy Hudson,"I think there’s going to be a lot more energy. Hopefully, we’ll have a better atmosphere this week. I think it will be exciting."
Kickoff is at 1pm Saturday at Finley Stadium, and the game will be televised on ESPN3.
