Residents complain as waster overflow cleanup continues in Ooltewah
OOLTEWAH, Tennessee (WDEF) – Overflowing wastewater is causing a big stink in Ooltewah.
The Hamilton County Waste Water Treatment Authority said the pump house off Snow Hill road WAS backed up Sunday, sending wastewater flowing over the ground and into a nearby creek.
Crews were on hand cleaning up the spilled waste and trying to fix the pump.
WWTA has been battling residents over a proposed wastewater treatment plant, and some against the plant were at the spill today.
Ooltewah resident Dean Moorhouse tells us “This issue here demonstrates both the incompetence and the disregard the WWTA has for citizens for clean water and clean air. It’s just uncalled for. They’ve known about this problem going on three months now and if it occurs here, its occurring everywhere.”
The residents will take their concerns to the Hamilton County planning commission meeting on Monday, November 12th, to try and prevent progress on the treatment plant.
