Police find possible explosive on seat of car in traffic stop

MURFREESBORO, Tennessee (WDEF) – An overnight traffic stop brought out the bomb squad robot this morning in Middle Tennessee.

The stop was made on a pickup in Murfreesboro around 3 AM on I 24.

Murfreesboro, TennesseeA woman said Fermin Viveros Leon had assaulted her and could have explosives and weapons with him.

The police officer spotted the device laying in plain view on the front seat.

After the area was cleared, Tennessee troopers deployed their robot to investigate the vehicle.

They removed it from the vehicle and detonated on the exit ramp, without any injuries.

The ATF is now investigating the case.

Leon faces charges of aggravated domestic assault, driving without a license and possession of explosive components.
