Grundy/ Plateau storm damage update

UPDATE: Grundy County schools are closed on Wednesday because of storm damage.

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – Grundy County Sheriff Clint Schramm offered this update on post-storm conditions this afternoon.

Highway 65 (linking Altamont and Coalmont) remains closed in the Colony Road area south of Altamont. It will remain closed at least through 7PM. Colony Road still has low power lines, so stay away from them.

Pelham, off the mountain below Monteagle, was the hardest hit area. Power will remain out through the night in the area. One house was destroyed, but no injuries.

The SVEC still has thousands of people out of power across their coverage area on the Plateau and in the Sequatchie Valley.

But all voting precincts are up and running and will be open until 7PM (CST).
