Rash of afternoon bomb threats nationally includes our area
UPDATE:
Brookhaven (near Atlanta) Police report that threats made against several DeKalb County schools today that the call was from a spoof number connected to an IP address based out of another country.

From the FBI: “(we are) aware of the recent bomb threats made in cities around the country, and we remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to provide assistance.”

Hamilton County has given schools the “all-clear” to release students. Police say “There is no appearance of any threat. ”

UPDATE: from Soddy Daisy Police
An email was sent to the Sequoyah Health Clinic that there was a bomb at the facility.
Since it is close to Sequoyah High and a daycare, police chose to lock them down.
The chief says several businesses in Hamilton and Rhea Counties have received the same threat.

UPDATE: More threats received in Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey… still no bombs. FBI is award of the rash of threats.

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Bomb threats are popping up all over the country on Thursday afternoon, including here in Soddy Daisy.
The local threats involved medical centers.
Hamilton County schools have held students in schools in the area just as a precaution.
There have also been threats this afternoon in Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Clarksville and Atlanta.
The targets range from schools, businesses and even the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville.
Authorities say the Nashville threats were made by email and demanded payments in bitcoins.
TV stations in the midwest, Kentucky and even Alaska have also received threats this afternoon.
So far, no bombs have been found.
