Cleveland High School Star Athlete Facing Domestic Assault Charge

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Cleveland High School star athlete is now facing a Domestic Assault charge after video of him allegedly beating his girlfriend surfaced on social media.

18-year-old Dionte Ware was taken into custody Friday.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after receiving the video by the Cleveland Police Department.

Investigators say the video depicts a black male standing over and repeatedly hitting what appears to be a black female who is laying on the floor.

They also say that the female in the video is a 16-year-old juvenile.

According to officials, the juvenile identified Dionte Ware, her boyfriend at the time, as the male in the video.

Ware is currently being held in custody at the Bradley County Jail without Bond.
