Orange Bowl Playoff Semifinal Should Feature Plenty of Offense

The only team to hold Oklahoma under 30 points this season was Army.
Maybe it takes an army to slow down the Sooners high powered offense.
Alabama gets their shot Saturday night in the playoff semifinals.

Oklahoma leads the nation in total offense.
Alabama is seventh in total offense.
That’s a nightmare for all defensive coaches, including Nick Saban.
Said Saban:”Coach Riley over here. He has got lots of plays. And we haven’t been able to cover all the ones they did all season long. (chuckles) So we are working on it. (laughs)
Said Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley:”When you are in the playoffs. These two teams are here for a reason. So what you have done up to that point is probably pretty decent too. So I’m sure there will be some new things, but I doubt either one of us are going to get too far away from what has helped us get to this point.”
Dynamic quarterbacks fuel both offenses.
The Sooners Kyler Murray won the Heisman trophy, while Bama’s Tua Tagovailoa finished second in the Heisman voting.
Said Bama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley on Tua:”From a skill set I think it’s his vision. The kid has unbelievable field vision where he sees things to almost before they happen. We call it anticipation.”
Said Sooners offensive lineman Ben Powers on Murray:”A couple of his scrambles. He just keeps going. And I’m looking around. I’m like who do I block because I don’t know where he is going to go.”
The problem for Oklahoma could come on defense.
They’re 108th in the nation in total defense, while Alabama ranks 10th.
Reporter:”Which do you think is most favored? The better offense or the better defense?”
Said Riley:”Hopefully Oklahoma’s offense and defense. (laughter)
Riley and company know it could be a little different facing the Tide’s defense.
Said Sooners running back Trey Sermon:”It’s their physicality. I mean their whole defense is very physical. Even their DB’s. I mean we’ll probably have to. I mean we are going to have to match that.”
Both teams have been in these big games before, so they know how to handle the external factors.
Said Saban:”I don’t like to think about you know winning championships. I really like for them to think about what do I have to do to be a champion.”
Riley:”We have prepared well. Confident the way our team has approached this entire month. We have had a great week here so far. Can’t wait for Saturday night.”
