Rain doesn’t stop revelers from ringing in the New Year

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Last minute preparations were made to West Village before a New Year’s Eve Celebration.

As the last 2018 day turned to night, rain rolled in.

But a little rain didn’t turn party goers away.

“The rain is one thing and we’re having fun. It’s all about having fun with your children,” Gregory Chapman said.

There were still activities inside.

And, that’s where many folks found themselves, while others embraced the rain and even danced in the rain with a DJ outside.

“It’s been so much fun, spending time with family and friends. I’m just so happy to be here,” Meryl Turner said.

Some celebrated with friends and family, like Trent and Braxton Brownley.

“Here for the New Year’s,” Trent said.

“We’re spending time with our family and just having fun,” Braxton said.

A not-so-late ball drop and laser light show started at 7:30p.

The party continued after for revelers eager to give 2018 one last hurrah and ring in a fresh start.
