Hamilton County Commissioners and School Board Members hold joint meeting
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners got a look at plans for the future of Hamilton County Schools.
They held a joint meeting with the school board Monday afternoon.
At the meeting the Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson gave a presentation on the current state of the schools, the FY2019 budget and its impacts, as well as goals they’ve set for the future.
Afterwards, there was further discussion and several questions asked by the commission.
“I think it’s just important as our funding agent for them to understand the work of the system,” Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson said.
“This was helpful to communicate and inform us about the direction of the school system and as we go into the budget at least we’ll know at least some of the strategic directions that Dr. Johnson has the school system going in,” District 2 Commissioner Chip Baker said.
Commissioner Baker said 62 percent of county funds goes to the school system.
Hamilton County Schools’ five year plan can be found on their website.
