Local man facing murder charges near Atlanta
Gwinnett County authorities have charged Charmane Demetrius Goins, 37, with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault.
The charges stem from the gruesome discovery of a 26-year old woman who’s burned body was found in a park near Atlanta.
That woman has been identified as Lauren Taylor.
Detectives investigating Taylor’s death determined Goins was having an affair with her.
Authorities have not established a motive for the murder.
Goins is a convicted felon who spent 15-years in prison.
When WDEF spoke to Goins during the summer of 2013, he was a motivational speaker who also helped ex-cons find jobs after they were released from prison. His interview aired during a four-part special report called "Shadow of a Felony Conviction."
