Dalton police warn about email scam from “DMV”

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – The Dalton Police Department is warning people about email scammers posing as D-M-V employees.

This morning, several Dalton residents reported the fake email.

According to officers, the message states the recipient has been cited for a traffic violation and must pay the fine within 72 hours.

Police say the D-M-V does not issue speeding citations.

Anyone who feels they may have fallen victim to this scam, is asked to contact Dalton Police.
