Man facing numerous charges after vehicle pursuit

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man was arrested on Tuesday after attempting to evade arrest. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said the man is facing multiple charges. He also had a multitude of warrants for his arrest.

Police identified the suspect as Cordaro Demonte Ervin. HCSO initially tried to stop Ervin after witnessing multiple traffic violations.

Hamilton County Police first spotted Ervin near 2 a.m. on Lee Highway. They said he was traveling south on Lee Highway, and took other side streets in an attempt to flee.

HCSO said Ervin tried to ram into their patrol cars multiple times.

The police pursuit made it onto I-24 Westbound. Officers said Ervin clipped the corner of a patrol car. This caused him to spin into the interstate’s center divider.

Once he crashed, Ervin left his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police also said he jumped over the dividing wall and tried to cross I-24.

Officers eventually caught and arrested Ervin, while he continued to resist.

HCSO said he was taken to Silverdale Detention Center for booking.

Ervin faces the following charges, according to police.

  • Aggravated assault x2
  • Reckless driving
  • Felony evading arrest
  • Failure to dim lights
  • Window tint violation
  • Violation of traffic control device
  • Driving on revoked/suspended license
  • Failure to provide financial responsibility
  • Registration violation
  • Resisting arrest

Hamilton County Police said Ervin had many existing warrants for his arrest. These include:

  • Failure to appear
  • Evading arrest x2
  • Aggravated assault x2
  • Criminal conspiracy
  • Theft of property
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Drugs for resale
  • Reckless driving
  • Stop sign violation
  • Failure to maintain lane
  • Violation of probation x3 – cocaine for resale, attempted cocaine for resale.
