Suspect arrested in Sweetwater shooting
SWEETWATER, Tenn. (WDEF) — Wednesday night, Monroe County police arrested a suspect in the shooting of five people. Sheriff Tommy Jones released information regarding Huerta’s arrest. Liu Huerta faces three counts of attempted first degree murder, attempted aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and the use of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
Tommy Jones is sheriff for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Jones said that Huerta is being held at the Monroe County Justice Center.
Police arrested the suspect around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Jones said the U.S. Marshal’s Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest of Huerta.
Yesterday, police announced they were searching for Huerta.
