I 24 could be shutdown a week by landslide above Nashville
NASHVILLE (WDEF) – The always difficult commute in Nashville was a lot harder Monday after the weekend landslide on I 24.
The slide happened late Saturday night at the Old Hickory Boulevard exit in northwest Nashville.
I 24 eastbound has been completely blocked by the debris.
TDOT will have to clear the tons of debris before they can even hazard a guess on how long the closure will last, but they warn commuters to expect at least a week.
They say expect a slow removal because the site was still unstable.
Nashville media reported the backup strung out several miles Monday evening.
ICYMI: I-24 EB is closed @ OHB north of Nashville. We don’t have a firm estimate for re-opening at this time, but drivers should plan for the closure to be in place at least a week. Once a repair schedule is confirmed, we will provide updated information. https://t.co/YKpKLWAjZu pic.twitter.com/hEMSHOFOCL
