CPD commends Nashville Police on response time
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — During their weekly press briefing, the Chattanooga Police Department made a statement on the Nashville Covenant School shooting.
Assistant Police Chiefs Scruggs and Sommers expressed how horrified they were after hearing of the incident.
On Monday, 28-year-old Audrey Hale shot and killed six people: three were 9-year-olds and three were staff members at the school.
Assistant Chief Sommers noted how saddened he was that the school and young children were the target of this attack.
However, they commended the Metro Nashville PD for their quick response.
“I was horrified at the event, as I’m sure everyone was. But I was also encouraged at the immediate response that officers took when that action presented itself,” said Assistant Chief Scruggs. “They responded like they were trained, and I couldn’t have been prouder of their response.”
Nashville Mayor John Cooper said Nashville Officers shot down Hale in 14 minutes.
In addition, Metro Nashville police released body camera footage of their response just one day after the shooting.
