City of Chattanooga schedules events for Spring Break students
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The City of Chattanooga has scheduled events all week long to keep students busy during their spring break from school.
The idea is to give them safe spaces to gather during the break.
Several local organizations are pitching in.
“There are a number of events available for children and families to attend over the following week. We’ve got one going on this evening at Eastlake Park with bouncy houses and food trucks, and there’s open gym tomorrow, and we even close it all out with a break-dancing competition next Saturday in Miller Park,” said Kirsten Yates, Mayor Kelly’s Senior Advisor for Communications.
The events include basketball, softball, break-dancing community festivals and an Easter Egg hunt.
Monday’s events include a viewing of “The Lorax”, an egg hunt in Avondale and a festival at Eastlake Park which includes games, music and food trucks (check the link for Spring Break Events).
The Executive Director of Community Safety and Gun Violence Prevention says the idea has worked before.
“We’ve received incredibly positive feedback from students and families on our previous school beak activities, and we’re thrilled to be back and better with more events this spring break.”
Chris Sans adds “It’s all about helping our city’s youth meet their full potential.”
The fun-filled events will conclude this coming Saturday, April 8th.
Officials with the city ask that parents make sure their children get into the event safely, and pick their children up promptly when each event ends.
