One dead from shooting in Jasper on Tuesday

JASPER, Tenn. (WDEF) — One man is dead after a shooting in Marion County on Tuesday.

The shooting happened at a residence on Nickajack Circle outside of Jasper, Tennessee.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Stephen Moore of Jasper was the shooter, and they took him into custody.

Moore shot Damon Tate of Whitwell, who died from his injuries.

Officers found Moore at his house just two houses down from the scene of the shooting.

According to Marion County Police, the shooting happened during an altercation between four people.

Police are holding Moore for arraignment on April 12.

They are charging him with criminal homicide.
