VEC Power Outage Update

Volunteer Energy Cooperative Update:
As of 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, February 24th the outage totals are 14,000 for Cumberland County, 2,500 for Fentress County, 700 for Overton County, 1,300 for Putnam County, 1,200 for White County, with a total of about 20,000 customers out of power.
Today, most of the assessment of electric system damage was completed and work concentrated on three-phase lines. These lines need to be repaired/replaced before smaller feeder lines and services can be restored.
We have received numerous questions regarding estimates of when power will be restored to particular areas. At this time, we cannot provide accurate information in this regard other than to say that we have several more days of work ahead of us.
We now have nearly 450 workers (95 crews) deployed. Representatives from Holston Electric Cooperative, Athens (TN) Utility Board, Ft. Loudoun Electric Cooperative, Middle TN Electric Membership Corporation, Service Electric, David Elliott, MPS, Galloway, and Seelbach are assisting VEC employees.
