CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)– An over ten year tradition in small town Trion, Georgia lives on today for Memorial Day weekend.

The city of Trion honored both deceased and living veterans, who call Trion their home.
The Memorial Day program recognized all veterans followed by a keynote address from Gunnery Sgt. Kevin McNeese.

The Mayor of the town was grateful the community made this event a priority.

“The variety of people that came, the veterans that showed up throughout the county of Chattooga, and for Trion to be able to memorialize the fallen that served our country and those that are still alive able to show up here today… It’s just a super event that the town of Trion is just super excited to put forth,” said Mayor of Trion, Lanny Thomas.

Saturday, three new pavers were added to the veterans wall in the city park.

The town of Trion is currently displaying 428 memorial crosses and flags around the park’s walking track.

The crosses and flags will stay on display for three weeks for all visitors and residents to pay their respects.
