Boat catches fire in river behind Baylor

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A boat caught fire Sunday night in the river behind the Baylor School.

The fire happened at 8 p.m., according to firefighters.

Chattanooga firefighters explain the boat’s carburetor malfunctioned, which caused the fire.

Of the three people on the boat, one received minor injuries, according to fire officials.

Firefighters put out the fire from a fireboat on the water.

Battalion Chief Carlos Hampton and nearby boater Tyler Thornbury provided photos of the boat fire.

“That boat squad got on scene and got to work. Absolutely a blessing to live in a city knowing our first responders will be there quick, fast and in a hurry. Well done,” said Thornbury.
