Smokies Use Two Big Innings to Defeat Chattanooga 8-3

(lookouts.com) The Chattanooga Lookouts gave up five runs in the sixth inning in their 8-3 loss to the Tennessee Smokies.

For the second straight game, the Smokies jumped out to an early lead. Today the away squad racked up three runs in the third inning, one on a wild pitch and two on an Andy Weber two-run single.

Chattanooga cut the lead to one in the fourth when Alex McGarry drove in two on a hard-hit single.

After a scoreless fifth, Tennessee’s offense kicked into gear. Jordan Nwogu kicked off the scoring with a two-run homer to left-center. Pete Crow Armstrong drove in another and scored later in the inning on a two-run Haydn McGeary single.

Down 8-2, the Lookouts failed to cut into the lead until the eighth when Ivan Johnson knocked home Blake Dunn.

Tomorrow, Lyon Richardson takes the mound for the Lookouts on Fireworks Friday presented by Charlotte Mabry – KW. Richardson has had an outstanding June, only allowing two runs in 14 innings of work while racking up 22 strikeouts.
