TWRA begins “Operation Dry Water”
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Beginning today through Monday, boating under the influence will have the same penalties as driving under the influence in Tennessee.
Tennessee Wildlife resource agency is calling it, “Operation Dry Water.”
The July 4th holiday means an increase in boater activity, and the TWRA will be on high alert for any signs of boating under the influence.
Those convicted of BUI could face jail time and serious fines- on top of putting others in serious danger.
Anyone convicted on their first BUI would face a minimum 48 hours in jail and up to 29 days.
The TWRA is working with law enforcement simply because they say drunk boat operators become drunk drivers as soon as they pull off the boating ramp.
