Pikeville man charged with first-degree murder

PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Pikeville man is in custody following a homicide investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

Law enforcement officers arrested 38-year-old Clayton Matthew Watson for the death of Dara Jade Baker.

Authorities charged Watson with first-degree murder.

The White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at a home on Cherry Road. Inside, they found a woman, who they identified as Baker, deceased.

The 13th Judicial District Attorney General requested the TBI investigate the incident in Sparta on Monday.

Then on Tuesday, the TBI said their agents identified Watson as the person responsible for Baker’s death.

Law enforcement officers booked Watson into the White County Jail.

He has a bond of $1 million.
