Chattanooga Police arrest 18-year-old in homicide case

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police have arrested a young man who they believe was involved in a homicide on Saturday.

The police department said they arrested 18-year-old Ralph Hughley, Jr. on Tuesday.

He faces charges of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of a firearm.

This is in regard to the homicide of Dedrick Boatwright on July 8.

The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) responded to a shooting call on Saturday around 5:15 p.m. The shooting happened on the 1100 block of Arcadia Avenue.

When they arrived, CPD said they found a man who had died from gunshot wounds. They later identified the deceased man as Boatwright.
