Man wanted in Catoosa County for forging check to $4,500
FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WDEF) — The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who forged a check after soliciting donations at a local Food City.
The sheriff’s office said the incident happened on June 5 at the Food City in Fort Oglethorpe.
They said a man was asking for donations for his college fund from an organization called “HBCU,” which is “Historically black colleges and universities.”
A woman said she wrote the man a check for $10 from her checking account.
Police said the check was then cashed using a mobile app. The suspect forged the check to $4,500 and wrote it out to another name.
Now, the sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information that could help identify this man to call them.
