Northwest Whitfield Must Replace Record Setting Quarterback Owen Brooker

Tunnel Hill, GA-(WDEF-TV) What did Northwest Whitfield coach Josh Robinson say to the broken vending machine?
Give me my quarterback.
The Bruins must replace quarterback Owen Brooker, who finished his career as one the state’s top 20 all-time passers.
Northwest has the 30-in-30 spotlight.

Northwest Whitfield is known for turning out quarterbacks.

Said Robinson:”We’ve been fortunate to have a string of good quarterbacks and we feel like we’ve got another one that’s very similar to that.”

And with the graduation of over 9000 yard passer Owen Brooker, it’s time for a new one to emerge in Gavin Knuckles.

Said Robinson:”He’s got a lot of characteristics that kind of combine Owen and Luke together, but he’s not going to be those guys. We’re not going to ask him to be those guys. We just want him to be him and improve every moment that he can. We’ve been pleased with the offseason and what he’s doing and how he’s doing it.”

Said receiver Hudson Gray:”It’s just like kind of a brotherhood between me and Gavin. We work out together, we’re on the field together. It’s just kind of like a brotherhood.”

Knuckles will be aided by the strength of Northwest Whitfield and its receiving core.

Said Gray:”Whenever it’s my route, I just always just know that I got my quarterback behind me. I know he’s going to make a good throw, and if he don’t, I’m going to be there for him. Just make a good play. We’ve got the most experience there between Isaiah, Hudson, Cooley.”

SaidRobinson:”They’ve all started for us last year at some point all the games, and they’re really talented, so that should make the life for Gavin a lot easier. We’ve been together since freshman year. It’s me, Isaiah, Austin, Cooley, Breck. I mean, we’re deep.”

We got everybody. We’re going to have a good year offensively for sure.

But Coach Robinson does point out the line does need improvement coming into the season.

Said Robinson:”Our offensive line, defense line, we’re replacing a lot of guys and it’s going to take a team effort to replace some of that production that we got from those. We’ve got to run the ball better than we did last year, but that includes our running backs. They didn’t necessarily do a great job last year.”
