Southwest Airlines to open new crew base in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Southwest Airlines is bringing a new crew base to Nashville, Governor Bill Lee announced on Tuesday.
The airlines’ newest crew base will be located at the Nashville International Airport in 2024.
This addition will bring around 1,300 jobs to the region, according to the airline.
The governor says this deal will bring the crew base up to 600 pilots and up to 700 flight attendants.
The Nashville International Airport sees 60,000 passengers per day, according to state officials.
“As a top global travel destination and business hub, Tennessee is the ideal location for Southwest Airlines’ newest Crew Base, and we look forward to the continued economic investment, job creation for newly based jobs and opportunity this expansion will bring for Tennesseans across the region,” Governor Lee said. “We’re honored Southwest, a leading American company serving millions of travelers each year, will be expanding its reach to the Volunteer State.”
