Pikeville police searching for men who stole iTunes gift cards
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Pikeville police are searching for two men who committed a theft at a local Family Dollar.
The theft happened on Monday just after 12 p.m. at the store at 3499 Main Street.
According to police, the two men picked up iTunes gift cards and brought them to checkout at different times.
“Once the clerk rang up the items, one subject distracted the clerk by requesting cigarettes. While the clerk was turned away, the second suspect reached around the counter to hit the cash button on the register,” the police department said.
They say this action activated the gift cards.
Then, police say both men left the store without paying.
