Despite recent data from the U-S Bureau of Labor and Statistics saying that the growth of employment has gone up by almost five percent in Hamilton County, representatives say a lot of companies are struggling to find workers.

Emily McHenry, the Chief Mission Integration Officer for Goodwill of Greater Chattanooga, said, “We know that the job market is really tough right now. There’s a lot of employers with a lot of positions open, but we know there’s a large skills gap there. Whether it’s people don’t know how to apply for jobs or they don’t know what employers are looking for, or they don’t have the skills that they need to work in those jobs.”

Goodwill’s Job Connection Center is open Monday through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

They say they help job seekers through the process of finding a job at no cost.
