Magic Abounds at Dade County’s Stadium Thanks to Long Time Manager

There have been plenty of football stadiums named after coaches, players, and sponsors. but there haven’t been many named after the guy who gets the team water.

Brian Armstrong joins us live from Magic Morgan field on how this honor came to be.

Ask him who his favorite coach is, you see me answer correct. Oh, that’s a good one, Dade County high school football has seen players and coaches come and go over the years, but since 1988, there has been one constant is Magic Morgan. Oh, M

agic keeps us hydrated every day. He keeps kids laughing. He’s he’s a staple around here, so the kids love him. He has helped kids with equipment, water, and whatever he can do to help the team perform on the field. He started, I guess I was in school when he started, and he was more of fixing helmets and things like that back then. And now he cuts up with the kids, and he also puts them to work loading up the water, cow, things like that. And psychologically, he’s a big boost for us around here. They like my water and everything. They like it cold. .He has battled through muscular dystrophy to be part of the football team. Broder taught me into it 89 when I started, and I’ve done it since then. And he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. I’ll never tell Magic not to show up down here, I’ll put it that way. But when he does eventually step away from the football field, he will always be remembered on the field that is named after him. I cried that night. Big time cried that night. We tell him, though, if he doesn’t start paying the taxes on the stadium, they’re going to repossess it, but, yeah, it’s special. And that night that they named it after him and the kids were excited to be a part of that that night.
