Pothole Problem
The snow and ice may be gone, but the damage they left behind is still here.
You may have noticed the potholes on roadways all across the region.
Here in Chattanooga, city crews hit the pavement to try and start taking care of the problem.
But the rain is slowing them down.
They can’t really repair the roadways during a downpour.
But workers say they are trying to do the best they can.
They usually fix about 6-hundred potholes a month.
Justin Holland is the Deputy Administrator for the Chattanooga Public Works Department.
"We repair potholes twenty-four hours a day, unless it’s raining, we’re out in full force, we have a couple of crews that do this every day so we try to accomplish as much as possible.
We do encourage people to call 311 to report those potholes early.
It helps us and it helps vehicle traffic."
The wet weather means some of the potholes may need to be repaired again later in the spring time.
