TBI: Rockwood woman arrested for fatally shooting 4-year-old
ROCKWOOD, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents have arrested a woman who they say shot and killed a four-year-old girl in Rockwood, Tennessee.
The TBI began investigating the death of Evangeline Gunter, which happened on Sunday. She died from gunshot at a home in the 100 block of Airport Road, according to the TBI.
After investigating, the TBI said 25-year-old Breanna Gayle Runions was responsible for the little girl’s death.
Authorities arrested Runions on Sunday and charged her with one count of first-degree felony murder. They also charged her with one count of aggravated child abuse.
They placed her in the Roane County Jail on a $1.5 million bond.
Knoxville affiliate WVLT reported that Runions claimed to be teaching the child gun safety. “Runions pressed the barrel of the gun to the girl’s chest after taking the magazine out, according to the warrants, then pulled the trigger, killing the girl,” they stated.
