Whitwell High School receives new water fountains through $10,000 grant
WHITWELL, Tenn. (WDEF) — Whitwell High School is receiving funds to install new water fountains.
The school is receiving a $10,000 grant to replace their outdated water fountains.
The new fountains will also be water-bottle filling stations.
Tennessee American Water funded this project through the American Water Charitable Foundation.
Convenient access to drinking water is important for students’ memory, attention and overall health, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We are grateful to Tennessee American Water for getting the water-bottle filling stations for our school,” said Principal Teena Casseday. “Getting in the habit of drinking water regularly helps with academic success and the addition of these new fountains make it easy for students to stay hydrated.”
