Labor Day at the Post
FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WDEF) – Labor Day at the post ran from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Molly Huhn the City Manager for Fort Oglethorpe said “We’re glad everyone came out. We hope it’s been a fun day, I guess it is safe to say that we look forward to doing it next year.”
This is the first time back in Barnhardt circle in 10 years.
“This was a long-standing event for decades and it has been close to a decade since it has been on this field. It used to be held right here,” said Huhn.
So many people came out, the food trucks ran out of food.
Taylor Hutwagner the Director for the city of Fort Oglethorpe said, “We had 85 local vendors. We had a ton of food trucks so much that, I mean people came out in droves and ate at the food that they ran out. So that was great to hear. We had free kids’ activities for the children, free inflatables, and a petting zoo. It was all good.”
There was also a car show.
Robbie Wilson the President of the Car Show Brothers said, “City of Fort Oglethorpe come and ask the car show brother if we would put on the car show for Labor Day at the post and we graciously accepted.”
The car show helped give back to the community.
“We are going to take 20 kids Christmas shopping from Dade County walker county and Catoosa County. We are going to take them Christmas shopping with the car show brothers and let them buy their Christmas that they wouldn’t be able to have,” said Wilson.
The Car show Brothers were happy to be able to support his community.
Mark Meyer the Mayor of Car show Brothers said, “This is going to be the biggest blessing of my life, to take a child that is in need and walk in somewhere and have them be able to get something because there are kids today that unfortunately may not have them things.”
The city was glad the event was a success and looks forward to next year.
