Man arrested after Labor Day high-speed police chase

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A police chase on Labor Day resulted in one man being arrested on several driving related charges.

Soddy Daisy police were in a pursuit of 35-year-old Brandon Buckner around 5:50 p.m. on Monday when Hamilton County deputies became aware.

The pursuit was on Highway 27 south, near the Tennessee River, when Hamilton County deputies began assisting.

Deputies say Buckner reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The chase went through East Brainerd, Collegedale and into Georgia.

Authorities say Buckner drove on the wrong side of the road at times. Hamilton County deputies then made a PIT maneuver, which damaged the deputy’s vehicle.

Buckner still tried to escape and hit multiple police vehicles. Deputies blocked him in, and he finally stopped, which is when they took him into custody.

Soddy Daisy police, Hamilton County deputies and Catoosa County deputies all assisted in the pursuit.

He faces the following charges:

  • Felony evading arrest.
  • Driving on a revoked license.
  • 4 counts of aggravated assault.
  • 2 counts of speeding.
  • Reckless driving.
  • 2 counts of reckless endangerment.
  • 2 counts of vandalism.
  • Stop sign violation.
  • Driving on roadway laned for traffic.
  • Probation violation.
  • Vehicle theft.
  • Theft of property.
