Mocs Ready to Start SoCon Grind

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) It’s grind time for the Mocs football team. Chattanooga kicks off SoCon play Saturday against the Citadel, and they don’t come up for air from league play until mid-November.

Time for the Mocs to hit the gauntlet. Nine straight weeks of nothing but SoCon opponents.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”Yeah I mean at the end of the day, we’re trying to figure out a way to win on a Saturday.”
And that’s hard to do in the Southern Conference.
Said Wright:”Very rarely in our league is it more than one score wins. Doesn’t matter who you are playing. It’s just how it has been, and it’s how it’s going to be. Got to figure out a way to go win.”
Find a way to win. How many times can Coach Wright repeat the mantra.
Said Wright:”You find a way to win. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. You can throw stats out the window. You can throw all that stuff. You find a way to win. I mean you just don’t start punching. You’ve just got to stand there. You just don’t stop punching.”
And the Mocs know the Citadel will keep punching.
Said offensive lineman Griffin McDowell:”They’re a team that. They’re going to play through the whistle. They’re going to play until the very last play of the game. Very gritty and hard-nose team. We’re not taking them lightly on that.”
Reporter:”You mentioned that play old school football. Maybe describe how they play.”

Said defensive back Jordan Walker:”Very physical. Downhill. Like downhill. Like physical. Physical. Physical. And you’ve got to match that or they will kill you. We’re looking forward to doing that and come out with a win.”
