Running Back Ailym Ford Leaving a Legacy at UTC

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) You can argue that Ailym Ford is now the best running back in Mocs history. He rushed for 126-yards in Chattanooga’s win over the Citadel to become the school’s top rushing running back. Brian Armstrong has more on Ford’s legacy.

Said head coach Rusty Wright:”I thought he ran the ball hard with a better purpose tonight.”
On Saturday Ailym Ford became the all time running back rushing leader and second rushing leader overall.
Said Ford:”Feels amazing. Been putting in that work the last five years. It’s a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to leave a legacy somewhere, and I’ve done it.”
Said Wright:”He can probably handle more carries. We’ve got a gauntlet the next seven weeks, and we’ve got to try and have as many of those guys as we can.”
Over his time with the Mocs, Ford has left an impression on teammates and opponents.
Said Ford:”I’m just leaving a legacy at this university. Helping recruiting. Helping guys be like, I want to be like him. I want to come here because this is a great school ever since I came here. Welcomed me with open arms. I just want other guys to experience that.”
And he continues to get better each game.
Said Wright:”He has played well. That was probably the best game he played tonight. I think he’s getting closer to him. That’s what I told him tonight.”
Said Ford:”Getting more downhill. I accepted that. I accept coaching because I always want to get better. I don’t want to stay stagnant. I want to keep moving forward and help the team develop along with myself.”
And all the hard work leading up to the season is showing itself on the field.
Said Ford:”It has been amazing. We have been working so hard throughout the summer and winter, and it has finally come to fruition.”
Said Wright:”He’s such a good football player. He’s such a good young man. You just want good things to happen for him, as hard has he has worked for this football program the last four or five years.”
